Usually, if it is under about fifteen years old and the fault is a gear kit, a sensor, a battery or a board. If the repair approaches half the price of a new unit, or if the opener predates 1993 and has no photo eye sensors, replacement at $275 and up is the better spend and we will say so.
Can I use a Chamberlain remote with a LiftMaster opener?
Often yes, because they share a manufacturer and their code systems. It depends on the year and the security system in your unit, and the colour of the learn button on the motor head tells us which one you have.
