Two rules before you touch anything. Leave the torsion springs and the cables alone, because they hold the full weight of the door under tension. And if the door is open and a spring looks broken, do not pull the red release cord, because without the spring the door can drop. Every check in the first column is done with the door closed.

My Chamberlain hums but the door will not open. Can I open it by hand?
Only if the door is closed and both springs are intact. Pull the red release cord straight down and lift; if the door feels far too heavy to raise, a spring has broken and the door should stay shut until we get there. A hum with no movement usually means the motor is pushing against something it cannot move, such as a broken spring, a locked door or a jammed roller.
Why did my Chamberlain remotes stop working when the wall button still works?
Look at the lock button on the wall control first. It is easy to press by accident when reaching for the light, and it shuts out the handheld remotes until it is turned off. If lock is off, change the remote battery and pair the remote again with the learn button. If none of your remotes will pair, the receiver on the logic board is the likely fault, and that falls within a normal opener repair.
I installed a Chamberlain myself and it reverses. Why?
Most often the safety sensors are misaligned or mounted too high, or the down force is set too low for the door. Both are quick to correct. It is also worth checking that the door itself is balanced, because an opener fighting a heavy door will trip its own safety limits.
My Chamberlain MyQ stopped working after the storm. What happened?
Usually the opener lost its WiFi pairing when the power came back, or the router got a new address. Re-pairing takes a few minutes. If the unit will not power up at all, the board or the battery is the next thing we check, and a surge during the outage is the usual cause.
